Job Summary:

Under general supervision, responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of the enterprise voice, data, video, and wireless network services.  Performs moderately complex tasks for the voice and data communication networks.  These tasks include, but are not limited to, installing, maintaining and monitoring the networks' hardware and software operating environment.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, monitor, document and maintain all network infrastructure hardware (such as switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, storage), VLANS/WAN segments and IP load balancing systems, utilizing thorough understanding of DNS, WINS, DHCP, STP, VTP, OSPF, BGP Cisco Access Lists, Policy Based Routing and routing protocols.
  • Ensures stable operation and efficient performance of company networks by monitoring system capacity to determine its effect on performance and recommend enhancements to meet new or changing network demands. Identify and remedy network performance bottlenecks. General understanding of network security principles, and general network management best practices.
  • Responsible for administration, monitoring and identifying security vulnerabilities/intrusion detection and for building firewall policies on the infrastructure firewalls.
  • Understanding of Network Performance Monitor (NPM) tools to quickly detect, diagnose and resolve performance issues before outages occur. Analyze real-time views and dashboards to visually track and monitor network
  • Maintains the PBX and Voice Mail systems by performing administrative functions to ensure data accuracy. Maintains the telephone call accounting hardware and software by performing regularly scheduled backups and working with vendor to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Stays current with network and network technology trends by attending seminars, technical education classes, Internet research and reading technical publications.
  • Adheres to company and departmental policies by ensuring all work is completed in a timely manner with an emphasis on producing quality work while keeping management informed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study and 3+ years of related experience or
  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study and 5+ years of related experience or
  • High School Diploma / GED and 7+ years related experience

Experience to include, but is not limited to:

  • Cisco/Juniper Network Engineering

 

Knowledge of:

  • Routers, switches, LAN, WAN and dynamic routing protocols (BFD, CFM, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPBGP, MPLS, VPLS, BGP/MPLS).
  • WAN/LAN inter-networking including design elements, cost versus performance trade-offs, protocol interoperability, network architecture development and requirements for testing / proof of concept
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

 

  • Requires moderate physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves light objects (up to 10 lbs.)
  • Walks, sits, or stands for extended periods.
  • Requires prolonged machine operation including vehicle, computer, and keyboard equipment.
