ITG Brands carries at its core, the mindset that, in order to succeed, a company must treat its people well and give them the tools they need to win.  We are currently searching for a Senior Manager, Leaf Purchasing - Factory Made Cigarettes (FMC) in our Operations facility located in Greensboro, North Carolina.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the development and implementation of leaf purchasing strategies and management of activities for tobacco requirements within the Americas for FMC, OTP, and NGP products.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Defines leaf purchasing budget, objectives, and review for approval. Provides tobacco availability, pricing trend, exchange rate impact, and crop production volume information in each market to support budget assumptions for both scheduled and ad hoc reviews.
  • Maintains strong working relationships with external stakeholders and suppliers to negotiate prices, contracts, and purchase volumes while ensuring compliance with quality standards and additional requirements. Resolves conflicts as needed.
  • Coordinates with planning and product development to provide strategic guidance for leaf purchase plans.
  • Ensures required documentation and system maintenance is executed for leaf purchases and logistical coordination of shipments to maintain required inventories of accepted leaf materials.
  • Manages staff and provides strategic direction, goal setting, as well as employee development and feedback on performance ensuring required level of training and expertise are maintained.
  • Proactively shares information with required stakeholders to ensure greater understanding of Leaf purchasing and informed decisions are available.
  • Selects and approves leaf purchases to meet quality, costs and organoleptic specifications and/or requirements, coordinating with additional stakeholders as needed for further evaluations and/or approvals.
  • Partners cross-functionally to support creative development, evaluation, and execution of company goals and objectives in areas such as cost, quality, efficiency, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity in developing and maintaining professional relationships as a company representative in various internal and external industry groups, committees and/or events..
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Science, Engineering or related field of study and 15+ years related work experience
  • Work experience to include, but is not limited to:
    • Leadership role in leaf purchasing
    • 5+ years Management / Supervisory experience

Knowledge of:

  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams
  • SAP or similar ERP system

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Previous work experience and leadership in Leaf Purchasing, Leaf Processing, Leaf Blending/Utilization, Agronomy/ Agricultural Engineering, Project Management, and Purchasing 10+ years related work experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Portuguese

 

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

  • Requires light physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves moderate to heavy weight objects (10-50 lbs.).
  • Walks, sits, or stands for prolonged periods.
  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Requires prolonged machine operation including computer and keyboard equipment.
  • Identify and distinguish shades of color.
  • Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury.
  • Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions including second-hand smoke and/or vape.
  • Risk for occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
